  2. Set the bar

    Choose the level you're interviewing for, L3 to Principal. The interviewer calibrates everything to it: how deep it probes, what it expects you to volunteer, and when a hint is earned versus handed over.

  3. Choose your interviewer

    Run it generic, or in the interviewing style of Amazon, Google, Meta, Stripe, Netflix, or Uber (paid plans) — pacing, follow-ups, and what “good” sounds like at that company. Scoring stays identical either way, so your progress numbers never lie.

In the round

  1. Alex presents a problem you haven't seen

    Your interviewer speaks, you speak back — put your headphones on. In DSA rounds it deliberately gives you no input/output examples: proposing your own is part of what's being graded, exactly like the real thing.

  2. Clarify before you build

    Jump straight into solving and the interviewer stops you. Clarifying questions come first — scale, constraints, edge cases — because that discipline is what real interviews actually test, and it's where most self-practice goes wrong.

  3. Think out loud on the board or the page

    System design gives you a whiteboard the interviewer watches live — it audits what you draw against the problem's ground truth and calls out what your mouth promised but your diagram didn't deliver. DSA and low-level design give you a shared page for notes, interfaces, code, and dry runs; there's no compiler on purpose — this measures reasoning, not IDE muscle memory.

  4. Pushback, earned hints, and a real clock

    It probes your trade-offs, challenges false confidence, and never hands over the answer. It also watches the time like a real interviewer — pacing the middle, warning near the end, and closing the round gracefully.
